Everything begins with an idea.
In 2020 I, like most people, was trying to figure out where I fit into life and what activities would spark a sense of self and passion. At this point I was trying all sorts of activities and crafts and in early 2021 I chose to pick up candle making as a hobby. This hobby gave me an outlet and helped me cope with feelings of anxiety, waves of depression and self-doubt. Creativity and passion were missing from my life at this time and this blossomed into something I didn’t want to stop. When I first started selling it was only through etsy, once I realized people really enjoyed these candles I expanded. Currently my biggest avenue is wholesale and I am located in 60+ boutiques worldwide.
I decided it would be more fitting for a moon obsessed witch to have a store name that reflects her dark side and lunar obsession. The Dark Moon Apothecary was born.
I always knew I was different. Little girls were dressed up as princesses and I was dressed up as either a black cat or a witch. I loved Halloween as a child. I remember going trick or treating dressed up as a witch with my black cat, midnite, following us down my street. People loved it. When I became a teenager, my love for all things halloween took a back seat to school, friends, boys and drama.
A few years after college, I found a book a dear friend had given me about witchcraft. This book was found after some more traumatic events had unraveled in my life. This book was everything to me. It restored my weird. It helped me heal. It’s helped me face all my demons of my childhood trauma. It’s made me feel more myself than I ever had. I was now living my own version of my life.
I felt awake.
